A beautiful lake, originally used as a fishing ground for the von Uchtenhagen manor. Fishing still takes place there today. It's easily accessible from the southwestern shore, and those who dare can even jump in. There are also a few designated swimming areas. But it's usually the anglers who are there. A lovely, idyllic lake. But nowhere near as mystical as Lake Baasee 😉

Beautiful, large shelter with a separate room for firewood. Next to the shelter is a fire pit surrounded by benches. Perfect for a break!

Beautiful lake near Sonnenburg. There are several options for accessing the water. In my opinion, one is more interesting than the Baasee.

Small roofed hut with a great view of Lake Baasee. Ilse is the poor charcoal burner's daughter from the legend "The Sunken Chapel in Lake Baasee."

Numerous trails branch off from the plateau, including to Lake Baasee, the Brunnentalweg trail to the mud bath, and many more. Thus, the hut, with its fireplace and fuel, not only offers shelter from the elements or in the event of an accident, but also usually welcomes people.

Since the 1880s, "foreign" trees have been planted in the Sonnenburg district to test their suitability for Prussian forestry. Definitely a must for a sociable stop. I have rarely experienced so much heart. And in front of an impressive, almost mystical backdrop. The Baasee and its taverns. Simply great.
