Large hut on the dream trail “Volkesfelder Heidehimmel” with distant views (cleared by the end of 2025), far beyond the Nette valley.

After a short climb along a narrow path, you'll reach the Riethel Cross, erected above the village of Volkesfeld. A magnificent panoramic view awaits you. Behind you, Volkesfeld nestles against the hillside, and in front of you stretch the ridges of the Volcanic Eifel region. In the valley below lies the Rieden forest lake with a small holiday home complex. From the wooden lounger, you have a fantastic view of the Nette Valley. There's also a picnic bench.

The view isn’t great anymore because of the vegetation.

Nice resting spot, but vegetation obstructs the view (at least in summer).

Here you can enjoy delicious food, friendly service and a great view of the lake from the terrace.

Rieden's forest lake is beautiful to look at. There are many water lilies and a few carp, which can even be seen from the shore. Part of the lake is closed off for swimming.

After finishing our hike, we had a delicious meal here. Not only was the food good, but the service was also impeccable, with excellent advice and super friendly service!
