Palazzo Pisani, Lonigo The building, commissioned by the Pisani brothers, was built in 1556 on pre-existing factories. Architect unknown, tradition attributes it to Michele Sanmicheli, while dalla Pozza Andrea Palladio worked in the Villa Pisani factory in Bagnolo in those years, despite stylistic evaluations not confirming any of the above hypotheses. The building consists of two parts: a central and two side wings, built in the '700. The living body is developed on four floors, two of which are noble, a rare aspect for the architecture of the time, and are surrounded by the rustic ashlar that accentuates the edges. Access to the square from Via Roma is through the rustic ashlar fornix that occupies two floors of the entire building. The portal is surmounted by a double-arched three-light window with soft ashlar on the ground floor, trabeata with ashlar bands with balustrades on the upper floor. The monumental balustraded staircase with triple ramps allows immediate access to the ground floor on the north side of the building. Continuing the ascent with your eyes, you can see how each floor is marked by a double basal band on the windows, as well as two coats of arms between the frame of the ground floor holes. Chiesa Vecchia, Lonigo Pieve or Old Church The facade of this church, completely remodeled in 1543 and later enlarged at the beginning of the seventeenth century and the first half of the eighteenth century, is characterized by four agile pilasters with capitals that run along the wall and the high base of the architrave of the tympanum . The eighteenth-century bell tower of the church remains "the "Bell Tower" of Lonigo, revived after the return of the Concert of the Nine Bells in 1988/89. On the last three bells, installed at Easter 1989, the images of the patron saints of ancient Pieve were engraved: Cristoforo, Quirico, Giulitta and the Saint of great devotion of Vicenza, Maria Bertilla.The founding of a bell school has produced in Lonigo enthusiasts and devoted bell ringers who ring the prestigious bells on every occasion.The bell tower of the Old Church characterizes the profile of the village and is soaring in grace worthy of the eighteenth-century harmony that governs the whole Church.
