The Tappeinerweg was founded by the Vinschgau spa doctor, scientist and tourism pioneer Franz Tappeiner, who contributed a lot to Merano's good reputation as a spa town. The approximately four-kilometer-long walking path leads from the Gilfpromenade over the slopes of the Küchelberg to Gratsch. In addition to the native plants, there is also lush Mediterranean vegetation and even exotic plants.

The cable cars and chair lifts in Dorf Tirol and the surrounding area offer the ideal starting point for a challenging high mountain hike or a leisurely family hike. They take hikers to the high mountains in just a few minutes. For example, the Hochmuth cable car leads from Dorf Tirol to the Muthöfen in steep terrain below the Mutspitze. Numerous chair lifts support the cable car service. A special feature, however, is the chair lift that connects Dorf Tirol with Merano during the day. The valley station of the Küchelberg lift is in the center of the spa town, right next to the princely castle.
