The first attestation dates back to the 12th century, from the 16th century with the establishment of the diocese of Crema the nearby Church of Sant'Antonio Abate was erected maintaining over the centuries a distinction between the two dioceses of Crema and Cremona, only in 2000 this absurd division ended by inserting the Church of Sant'Antonio into the diocese of Cremona.

The Grand Chancellor of the County of Romanengo, Diego Salazar, donated in 1618 the relics of twelve saints placed in a precious wooden reliquary, now disappeared. The building was probably expanded at an unspecified period, maintaining its original characteristics.
