Don't forget to bring a headlamp or a hand flashlight to explore the Cadorna Line, a long fortified complex running along the Italian/Swiss border from Valle d'Aosta to Valtellina, built in a few years around the outbreak of WW I (see https://storiedimenticate.it/linea-cadorna/ for more information; text in Italian). A must see: the "Cannoniera", a large underground artillery facility with 6 emplacements, in one of which a real restored WW II howitzer is on display.

A small town located on the border with Switzerland, Viggiù is known as the "Town of artists" due to the large number of sculptors to whom it gave birth or who learned the art of working with stone in it. Characterized by a contained historic center, marked mostly by farmhouses and railing houses, it is still possible to come across courtyards in which once stood the sculpture and modeling workshops or, more simply, stone carver and rougher workshops . Plasters, sketches, drawings and frescoes with heterogeneous subjects are therefore the heritage that is sometimes hidden in the historic center and which is offered to the view of the most curious tourists.
