Since the fish in the Schwentine river cannot yet fly and the weir at the mill is therefore an insurmountable obstacle, a fish ladder was built for them here.

Lake Passad is one of the largest lakes in the Eastern Uplands of Schleswig-Holstein. It covers 2.7 km² and is up to 10.7 m deep. The lake is named after the neighboring town of Passade. Lake Passad is tributary to the neighboring, roughly equally sized Dobersdorf Lake and the eight times larger and comparatively deep Selenter Lake. This lake system drains via the Hagener Au into the Baltic Sea near Laboe on the Kiel Outer Fjord.

In the course of extensive renovation work at the Raisdorf 2 hydroelectric power station, the Rosensee had to be drained for more than three months in 2004.

The lake was created as a reservoir in 1908 during the construction of the Schwentine hydroelectric power plants by shipyard founder Bernhard Howaldt and is now a fundamental part of the Schwentine Landscape Park. To create the reservoir, Bernhard Howaldt had to purchase land along the Schwentine River as far as the lands of Count Christian zu Rantzau (Rastorf Estate) and Preetz Monastery. The price per hectare at the time was approximately 2,000 marks. Raisdorf was first supplied with electricity in 1904 by the Raisdorf 1 hydroelectric power plant at the Rastorfer Mill. The Raisdorf 2 hydroelectric power plant followed in 1909. The power plants are now listed as historical monuments and are operated and maintained by Kiel's municipal utilities.
