Graffiti – completely legal and colorful – brings more color to Plön's market square. Commissioned by the "Beautiful Plön" initiative (ISP), artist Harald Boigs has transformed three of the city center's drab gray electrical boxes, spray-painting and painting them with architectural motifs of Plön. More are planned.

A fisherman sits relaxed on a large fieldstone, his legs casually crossed, his trousers rolled up. In his right hand he holds his fishing rod, in his left the freshly caught fish. The figure stands in the Plön market square, not far from Lake Plön, which has always attracted many anglers.

The Schluensee has been part of the Trammer See, Schluensee, Wald- und Knicklandschaft zwischen Schöhsee und Behler See und Umgebung landscape conservation area since 1999 and is also located in the FFH area Grebiner See, Schluensee und Schmarkau.

Lake Schluensee has a very irregular shape, running from southwest to northeast. It has a maximum length of approximately 2 km and a maximum width of approximately 600 m, is one of the deepest lakes in Schleswig-Holstein with a depth of approximately 45 m, and covers an area of about 127 hectares.

In the heart of the old town, right on the market square, St. Nicholas Church dominates Plön's cityscape. The massive brick building with its 60-meter-high tower replaced a Baroque church that had burned down after being struck by lightning between 1866 and 1868. Due to a lack of funds, the ruins remained standing for over two years. The church facade clearly shows the 17th-century masonry that was reused in the new construction. Following the prevailing taste of the time, the architecture was based on medieval Romanesque and Gothic stylistic elements, incorporating remnants of the foundation walls that survived the fire. St. Nicholas Church hosts numerous concerts, ranging from sacred music to guest performances by artists such as Vicky Leandros. Musical highlights include the concerts held as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

A beautiful place with a view of the lake

A winding path through beautiful countryside. Unfortunately, they didn't skimp on the coarse gravel. Not recommended for tires with high rims.

The name may have come from a knight named Hinrich von Ryckestorp, who is documented as the owner of the nearby Lehmkuhlen estate in 1369. The ancient Holstein noble family of Rixdorf died out in 1509 with Wulf von Rixdorf. The ancient Holstein noble family of Brockdorff owned the Rixdorf estate from 1600 to 1681. In 1671, Wolf Heinrich von Baudissin was born on the Rixdorf estate. It was rebuilt between 1730 and 1740 under the master builder Rudolph Matthias Dallin. The estate has belonged to the Counts of Westphalia zu Fürstenberg since 1790. Until its takeover by Prussia in 1867, the estate also served as a patrimonial court.[1] In 1928, the estate district was dissolved, and the communities of Rathjensdorf (until 1949 Tramm), Lebrade, and Mucheln were created. Rathjensdorf with its districts Theresienhof, Tramm and Neutramm had been part of the Rixdorf estate as Meierhöfe for centuries.
