Built between 1717 and 1723 according to the plans of the ducal court architect Donato Giuseppe Frisoni, the palace was connected to the Residenzschloss (Residenz Palace) via an avenue. It was intended to be both an eye-catcher and a vantage point. Two sweeping staircases lead up to the impressive main floor, where the ballroom and the smaller rooms are located. A roof terrace with four small towers offered a wonderful view over the Tiergarten, today's Favoritepark.

Apart from a good cycle path, only a few station buildings remain from the old Bottwarbahn, such as Hof and Lembach stations. An information board provides some background information about the station and the Bottwarbahn as a whole.

The bike tour today was very good, we started in Gemmrigheim then Großbottwar, Rielingshausen, Kirchberg an der Murr, Affalterbach, Hoheneck, Pleidelsheim Besigheim to Gemmrigheim over 66Km in 3 hours 18 minutes. An experienced rider can do that.

The cycle path was built on the railway embankment of the former Bottwartalbahn. You can still see old train stations and some railway signals along the route. Due to the slight gradient and the good surface, it is easy to cycle.
