Schönecken Castle is the ruin of a hilltop castle at 467 m above sea level above the municipality of the same name, Schönecken, in the Nimstal in the western Eifel (Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm) in Rhineland-Palatinate. The Junfernley is easy to find. From Schönecken, turn onto the main path at the car park to Schönecker Schweiz, towards Rommersheim. After about 1 km, you reach the Jungfernley, which is on the right in the "Reinsbusch", and the Schalkenbach on the left. The Jungfernley is a legendary, mighty dolomite formation. According to legend, the stone is the remains of a maiden who was turned to stone at this point due to malice. Here you cross the Bierbach, which flows into the Prüm shortly afterwards. I tried it. It tastes even more watery than Kölsch... :D

Cycle path/hiking trail - a great section through Schönecker Schweiz. Gravel and not too steep, so easy to ride without an e-bike or with children! Lots of great rocks to see.
