From the road of the malghe a short dirt road branches off slightly uphill that leads to the Malga Foraoro owned by the Municipality of Caltrano and managed in season with the possibility of cutting boards and sandwiches. The view of the plain that can be enjoyed from the Malga is wide. Nearby there is a giant red bench.

Lots of grazing animals and fantastic views

The Hornbeam of Contrà Piani is a magnificent and majestic centuries-old tree: with its sturdy trunk and its broad crown, it dominates the gentle hill on which it is placed and the valley below. A suggestive bucolic picture in every season. At least 120 years old (late 19th century), it has a circumference of 3 meters and a height of 20 meters: the dimensions are considerable for the species, since, being used mostly as firewood, it is very rare to find specimens that reach these dimensions. The Rossi family's cotton mill ("CotoRossi"), active since 1893, was an industrial reality which at full capacity saw hundreds of people employed, mainly women. It was served by the railway coming from Schio and the underlying Rozzola hydroelectric power station which, exploiting the waters of the Astico river, moved the looms. A beautiful example of industrial archaeology, now in ruins: currently the beautiful entrance door, the skeleton of the walls and the caretaker's house remain of the building.

Excellent hut with lots of space to rest, sale of typical products. 🔝 for a break

It is worth stopping for a lunch break, an aperitif or a snack, and to taste the cheeses and cured meats.

Very suggestive place, especially if you want to work a little and get there by bike from the tour of the Malghe. Very interesting war memorial, to think that people suffered and died in this area about 100 years ago is even more suggestive
