It's incredible that these rock formations are so old and have survived. Definitely worth a detour. There are also several information boards along the path explaining the origins of the stone pyramids.

The Pyramids of Plata, located near Perca in South Tyrol, are unique geological formations created by millennia-old water erosion on clay soils. These natural pinnacles, topped by boulders, offer a suggestive spectacle, especially after heavy rainfall, when the erosion process is more evident. Definitely go!!! The Kaiserschmarrn is a dream, the Hugo was the best of the whole holiday and the Alm Gin Tonic unique (I would remove the pine branch at some point, otherwise the whole drink would eventually only taste like the forest ;-) )
