The memorial includes the following inscription: “TO THE EVERLASTING MEMORY OF … WHO LOST THEIR LIVES HERE ON ST. GEORGE’S DAY 23-4-44 AT 1 H 20 A.M. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY.” The names of the seven crew members are listed, including: • F/O P.C. Milburn (RCAF) • Sgt. J. Palfrey (RAF) • W/O N.W.E. Burdett (RCAF) • F/O B.B. Ashley (RCAF) • Sgt. S.W. Courtenay (RAF) • F/O S.M. Clarke (RAF) • F/O D.W. Magan (RCAF)

It commemorates the crew of 550 Squadron of the Royal Air Force (RAF), whose aircraft—an AvroLancaster I ME581 BQ-D—was shot down during a raid on Düsseldorf on the night of April 23, 1944. For hikers and history buffs, it combines nature experience with a glimpse into the wartime past—making it doubly interesting.

In the second half of the 18th century, fashionable Spa was considered the "Café de l'Europe." In 1770, a second casino, the Château de Faux-Hall, opened alongside the Casino in the town center (La Redoute). After some internal disputes, the two were merged. When a third, "Le Club," joined in 1785, a lawsuit ensued, which was only resolved in 1802 by merging the three. After its heyday, the château served many other purposes: a military hospital, a Protestant temple, a school, an orphanage, and a museum. The building is now managed by the city of Spa.

A beautiful valley with a rocky riverbed. In summer, only a small stream flows through it, but the narrow natural path through beautiful deciduous forest is well worth the effort.
