The renaturalization project was only effectively completed at this location in 2025. Before that, it was "nice," but nothing more. Today, at least here, one can get an impression of what the Nidda might originally have looked like. A little further downstream towards Höchst, there is also a more natural stretch – otherwise, unfortunately, it's still a very straightened river, yet still one of the most beautiful sections in Frankfurt.

The Nidda is a river in Hesse. It rises in the Vogelsberg mountains and flows for approximately 90 kilometers before emptying into the Main River at Wörthspitze, on the border between the Frankfurt districts of Höchst and Nied, with an average flow rate of about 13 m³/s.

It's always exciting to think about what was going on here years ago.

The sled trail is super flowy and rough at the same time, and can't be compared to the blue marble runs of other trail parks. At the end, it's easy to accidentally end up on the Schoppen Trail. But you'll notice this quickly, as the root steps suddenly get really big. 😄 Nice tables at the end for airtime. And then straight back up! 😜
