Saalburg Roman fort is a former fort of the Roman Limes located on the Taunus ridge northwest of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe. The cohort fort lies directly west of the modern-day B456 federal highway, roughly halfway between the town of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe and the municipality of Wehrheim in the Hochtaunus district. It is considered the best-researched and most completely reconstructed fort of the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes, which has held UNESCO World Heritage status since 2005.

Here you will find the office building of the construction yard and other historical buildings that were reconstructed at the beginning of the 19th century when the Roman fort was rebuilt.

The column was erected in front of Homburg Castle in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reign of Landgrave Friedrich V Ludwig. A replica stands here in the large Tannwald forest.

There is a large rest area here with lots of benches and tables. Great for eating the provisions you brought with you, but also just to enjoy the great view!
