The Isel River is the "lifeblood" of Lienz.

In the middle of Oberlienz, the open-air museum invites you on an exciting journey through time. Along the "Old Life" theme trail, you can discover five historic buildings and two mills that impressively depict the rural history and traditional building methods of East Tyrol. Highlights include the functioning smithy, a water-powered wool grinder and the last remaining 18th-century crushing room in Oberlienz. Information boards along the trail offer exciting insights into the past - a worthwhile destination for history buffs and nature lovers!

Rudl Duregger is part of the cityscape on Messinggasse in Lienz. The district is historically characterized by handicrafts and has retained this ambience to this day. As a blacksmith, he belongs to the archetype of the artisan and has therefore become an original in the Sun City. He has been running the Kunstschmiede in Messinggasse for almost 50 years, and his wife has been running the associated shop “Alte Schmiede” next door - probably one of the most photographed motifs in our district capital and always worth a visit.
