This is really fun! But it's apparently rarely used – I had to take a wide detour around a fallen tree 😊 and after the heavy rain the day before, there were some muddy sections.

Steep descent indeed. Manageable on a gravel bike, but might be more fun on a mountain bike.

Narrow but flat path, good connection to the lake

The well-preserved castle is an essential part of the historic old town, perched on a hill. And we felt the same way as @Scout Jens: the view from below of the castle and old town had a certain promise and was the most beautiful view.

A chlorine-free cooling off on hot days, great natural outdoor pool

Menzingen Castle is a Renaissance-era moated castle located in Kraichtal-Menzingen in the Karlsruhe district. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the castle was rebuilt by the Lords of Mentzingen in the 16th century and destroyed during World War II. The castle ruins are privately owned and not open to the public. An information board with a good view of the ruins is located at the rest area outside.

Currently being renovated. Hopefully it will be finished by May 1st, 2025. Then the season starts 👍😎
