The Lindenhof Estate (often also referred to as Lindenhof Manor) is located on the northwest shore of the Bredenbek Pond and looks back on a varied history, from aristocratic ownership and social use to its current status as a private residence. Here are the key facts for the year 2026: 1. History and Architecture Historical Origin: The current manor house is a listed building. Historically, it was part of the surrounding area of the large estates in the Stormarn region. Architecture: The building is characterized by its classical architecture and significantly shapes the landscape around the Bredenbek Pond. 2. Past and Present Use Nursing Home Era: For many decades, the Lindenhof Estate was widely known as a district nursing home. However, this lease agreement between the Stormarn district and the operators at the time was terminated. Change: After the nursing home closed, the property was sold, and the residents moved to more modern facilities in Ahrensburg or neighboring communities. Current status (2026): The manor house is privately owned and used for residential purposes. It is part of a complex that also includes an adjacent equestrian facility, which has been modernized (e.g., with floodlit riding arenas).

Unfortunately, the Lindenhof currently resembles a "lost place".

The Bredenbeker Teich (also called Bredsche) is a pond in the Stormarn district in the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, west of the town of Ahrensburg. It is around 35 hectares in size and has an average depth of 1.3 m, a maximum of 3.2 m. Its shoreline is 6.1 km long and is accompanied by walking and driving paths to the south. The water of the pond flows via the Bredenbek, which also feeds it, the Alster and Elbe to the North Sea. The eastern part of the pond is secured against entry by a wire mesh fence around 2 m high, and the island is also cordoned off.

Rustic path that leads directly along the pond and small, free bathing bays. Dogs can cool off their paws here, and of course people too.

To commemorate a more than 150-year-old oak tree that unfortunately had to be felled, an artist carved two decorative owls from the stump of the tree. A commemorative plaque provides information: “On this spot stood a beautiful 155-year-old oak tree that had to be felled in November 2003 due to illness. All of us who rested, laughed, ate, played and partied under that tree miss her dearly. This sculpture, which was carved from the trunk of the old oak tree, stands as a reminder of this beautiful time. A new pedunculate oak was planted this spring. We wish that this grows up to the same splendor. www.August 2004 “stormerland.de/radeln/ohlstedt-ammersbek/ohlstedt-ammersbek2.htm

The Lindenhof looks very nice from afar, but seems uninhabited.
