On a hill near Fürfeld there is an atonement cross from the year 1566. The cross once stood south on the way from Fürfeld to Berwangen. The front shows the number 1566 and a pair of scissors pointing downwards. The left arm bears the year in Roman numerals. On the back you can read "Anno Domini". There are three possible origins for the erection of the atonement cross. A tailor is said to have been murdered. A second legend says that two tailors killed each other while burning charcoal because of a girl. In the third legend, the scissors are interpreted as crossed sabers. A gentleman from Zavelstein is said to have been killed in a duel. As the cross has a groove on the head, it was probably also used as a boundary or whetstone. There is also a bench next to the atonement cross.
