The "forest brother" became a "forest servant". The chapel survived the Thirty Years' War unscathed. In connection with the expansion of the Eppingen lines in 1695 - 1697, the chapel tower was given the function of a charter and was raised. In the 18th century, pilgrimages to the chapel ruins were again made from Eppingen. In 1771, the chapel was still completely intact, but without a roof. Due to agricultural use, the nave was demolished in the 19th century, except for a remnant in the west. In the last days of the war in 1945, the property next to the chapel was destroyed and the chapel was set on fire. In the heart of Gemmingen, between the castle courtyard and Wiesenstrasse, is the old stately castle park, which was acquired and renovated by the municipality of Gemmingen in the 1980s. The idea behind it was English gardening. The center of the site today is the castle park pond, which is fed by its own spring, the Murrbach, and mainly by an old pipe from the Losterbach spring. Adjacent to the northern bank is an octagonal wooden pavilion. There are various events, concerts, children's performances and also an open-air cinema. Every two years, the park festival takes place across the entire area, organized by Gemmingen and Stebbach clubs. Not far from the pavilion, on the edge of the path, you will come across a bronze group, the Gänseliesel. It was donated by a Gemmingen citizen.
