The Kocherwerk – Museum of the Screw and Fastener Industry offers a fascinating insight into how small screws transformed into major technological history. Interactive exhibitions, digital stations, and hands-on real machines await you in the historic Red Mill. Located directly on the Kocher-Jagst cycle path, the museum, with its bistro and terrace, also invites you to linger – a place that combines industry, region, and experience.

The St. André Castle is a manor house built in 1710 by the Barons of Saint-André in Kochendorf, a district of Bad Friedrichshall in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg. The building belonged to the Bachert bell foundry from 1829 and in 1983 became the property of the town of Bad Friedrichshall, which renovated it after 1990. It is a cultural monument. The Lower Castle once stood on the site of the St. André Castle, the third manor house of the Greckens, who ruled over Kochendorf after the Grecken Castle and the Lehen Castle. In 1670/77 the Barons of Saint-André acquired a third of Kochendorf. Under Friedrich Magnus von Saint-André (1674–1731), the St. André Castle was built on the site of the Lower Castle by 1710. The building shows the coat of arms of Friedrich Magnus and his wife Charlotte Louise von Weiler (1681–1756) above the portal. In 1762, the owner's two surviving sons, Wolfgang Christoph (1713–1769) and Christian Reinhard (1715–1779), sold their Kochendorf property, with the exception of the so-called Pfaffenhaus, to the Knights' Canton of Odenwald, which moved its office to Kochendorf. In 1829, the building came into the possession of the Bachert bell foundry, which also built other factory buildings in the vicinity. After the start of renovation work in Kochendorf in 1978, the palace and factory buildings were separated. The factory facilities were demolished and residential buildings built over them, while the palace came into the possession of the town of Bad Friedrichshall in 1983. In 1987, the town considered selling it to a property developer who intended to divide the building into individual residential units. The sale did not take place because the monument protection authority objected to a comprehensive redesign of the interior. The city renovated the building itself from 1990 onwards and has used it for various municipal offices since then. The sights inside the castle include the historic staircase and the Magnus Friedrich Hall, which has a stucco ceiling and high-quality parquet flooring. At the end of 2020, it was decided to renovate it and use it as a registry office. Source: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Andr%C3%A9sches_Schl%C3%B6sschen

Beautiful, but unpaved cycle path in Kochendorf, which leads past the Schleusenklause in Kochendorf along the left bank of the Neckar, otherwise I usually cycle through the village, today I took a different route.
