The climb to Passo Valles from the Paneveggio side is about 6 kilometers long with a 480 meter difference in altitude. It is a constant climb, with average gradients of around 7%. It does not allow many moments of respite but is never excessively steep. It is often tackled after the descent from Passo Rolle, connecting Val di Fiemme to Valle del Biois.

The Valles pass is an Alpine pass between Predazzo and Falcade, which is located at just over 2,000 meters above sea level. It connects Trentino to Veneto and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Here there is a small church and the Passo Valles hut refuge. The first rather simple construction of the shelter dates back to 1933. In 1934, following a fire, presumably caused by quarrels between shepherds, the hut was destroyed but was rebuilt in a more solid way in 1938. Since then, the shelter has grown in size and importance and is today a fundamental presence in the area.
