8月 24, 2025, Cascata di Castel Giuliano
The route on the offline map isn't always clear, in my opinion. We were forced to turn back because the trail took us past a barbed fence, leaving us unsure of where to go next, having already walked a long way. The place is very beautiful, but the map may not be up to date.

The Trevi Fountain is one of the most famous and beautiful fountains in the world, located in the heart of Rome. Designed by Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini in 1762, this baroque fountain is known for its impressive size and detailed sculpture. A popular tradition is to throw a coin into the fountain to ensure your return to Rome. It is estimated that around 3,000 euros are collected per day, which is used to support those in need in the city.

Beautiful waterfalls found on the Via Francigena between Sutri and Campagnano di Roma... it's a shame that their waters are particularly polluted.

3月 3, 2024, Cascate di Monte Gelato
Cascata di Monte Gelato, located in the Parco Regionale Valle del Treja (Treja Valley Regional Park), is a captivating natural wonder in the Lazio region of Italy. It consists of a series of small waterfalls along the Treja River. Some of these falls are natural, while others have been shaped by human intervention. The constant flow of water over layers of volcanic rock has sculpted these picturesque waterfalls for millennia

Archaeo-naturalistic wonder almost car-free when entering from Caffarella. After about twenty km at Frattocchie where it merges with the horrible Appia Nuova, crossing it with caution, you can continue on secondary roads (former vineyards now spreading into second homes) towards the still genuine and evocative Lake Albano.

2月 15, 2024, Fontana del Moro, Piazza Navona
The Fontana del Moro depicts a nautical scene with tritons, dolphins and a shell. It was originally designed by Giacomo della Porta in the 1570s with later contributions from Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 1650s. The central figure represents a Moor, or an African, fighting a dolphin in a shell. There is a debate about whether Bernini intended the figure to be a Moor. Some of the original sculptures were moved to the Galleria Borghese in 1874. In 2011 the fountain was destroyed by a vandal.

Now you are at the most famous fountain in the world, the Fontana Trevi. It's beautiful to see how the sea god is pulled on a shell chariot by sea horses. The horses, one prancing and one calm represent the unpredictability of the sea. The four figures at the top depict, among other things, the healing effect of water. On the left is the image of the Abundance and right, Health. Above the fountain you can see the coat of arms of Pope Clement XII. The fountain is 20 m wide, it took 30 (!) years to complete and it was designed by Nicola Salvi. The water of the Trevi Fountain is drinkable. The well-to-do citizens even showed up at that time getting the water from the fountain for their daily cup of tea. It's a shame that such a work of art is not located somewhere in the middle of a huge square or park rather almost in the back. An advantage of this is that it saves some money pollution.

The National Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II is built on the hill of the Capitol around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries following the independence. The design came from Giuseppe Sacconi. The impressive marble monument must symbolize the unity of Italy with the equestrian statue of the first king of Italy, he died in 1878. When entering you are informed that you are not may sit on the steps, nor smoke or drink out of respect for the monument. In You can climb several floors to the colonnade. At the foot was an altar in 1921 the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (Altare della Patria) was placed by soldiers is guarded.

This ancient road, built by Appius Claudius Caecus as early as 312 BC, was once one of the most important trade routes in Italy and the Roman Empire. Today, the Via Appia Antica is a magical place where you can follow in the footsteps of the Romans. Riding along this historic route, surrounded by ancient Roman cobblestones, funerary monuments, thermal baths and farmsteads, is an unforgettable adventure. Although some parts of the road can be a bit challenging for bicycles due to the original paving, the beauty and atmosphere of the surroundings are worth every effort. The Via Appia Antica passes through the Appia Antica Park, a protected area that extends over 3,500 hectares and is home to numerous monuments, excavations and the entrances to early Christian catacombs. The park is a green wedge between the south-eastern districts of Rome and the Alban Hills, and offers valuable naturalistic elements in addition to the archaeological and historical evidence. The experience of exploring the Via Appia Antica by bike is a journey into the history of Rome. The road, which was once lined with tombs and monumental buildings, now offers a unique perspective on ancient Rome. Especially at sunset, the Via Appia Antica unfolds a mystical atmosphere that captivates visitors.

The Trevi Fountain is one of the most beautiful fountains in the world. Not only because of its size or its design, but also because of its energy. Its birth was a long process since it was begun “almost formally” in 1732, by the architect Nicola Salvi. Its design is in the Baroque style, where elements of architecture, sculpture and nature come together in the same setting.
