Rittergut Streithorstは、テューリンゲン伯領とオルデンブルク伯領に対する国境地帯を確保するはずでした。これらの伯領もまた、この地域の領土を主張しようとしていました。1304年からシュトライホルスト家がここに住んでいました。しかし、現在の建物は1864年に建てられたもので、通りからはよく見えないように少し奥まっています。現在、Rittergutは貴族の家系であるフォン・ブッシュ＝ヒュンネフェルト家のメンバーが所有しています。

Streithorst Manor Remains of this castle still exist. The Streithorst manor was the ancestral seat of a family of the same name, first documented in 1304. In 1862, the old Streithorst manor house, a simple one-story structure, was demolished. A new manor house was built in 1864 using its stones and those of the Schweger manor house, which had also been demolished. The manor house was destroyed by fire in 1992. All that remains is a round sandstone Renaissance fountain.

The varied landscape of the former Wittlage district is rich in charm. Streams originate in the densely wooded ridges of the Wiehen Hills, flowing north into a fertile plain. In the border zone between the hills and the North German Plain, they drive the wheels of old stone or half-timbered mills. The water-rich Hunte River is crossed by bridges, some of which are medieval, with rounded arches built of silvery limestone. In the north of the district, the Hunte flows through the moors and meadows of a large, silted-up lake, the Dümmer. Its extensive nature reserve is home to rare flora and fauna.

Remarkable, long avenue through the edge of a forest with many pine trees as avenue trees.

The lake was created from a sand and gravel pit operated by the building materials manufacturer quick-mix in 1964. Its name is derived from the Low German term for cranes.[

There is a cute little beach bar here for a quick refreshment or a small snack. Opening hours: closed on Mondays, Tuesday to Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In the 1970s, sand mining was carried out here for highway construction. Back then there were only prohibition signs but no fence, so you could still swim freely. Today everything in the campsite is cordoned off.

The inscription on the beam above the gate is also very beautiful: "Ludwig, Imperial Count of Münster, Lord of Langelage"
