The war memorial in Freyenstein was cleaned on June 7, 2022, by eight-year-old Meira Kanzler, assisted by her grandfather Friedhelm. This cleaning was part of the school's "My Day's Work" project. The war memorial is located at St. Mary's Church in Freyenstein.

Definitely worth a detour. When approaching from Neukrug: There is no path directly across the field, but it is easy to drive along the edge of the forest in autumn. In summer the path is certainly too sandy.

On the border between Mecklenburg and Brandenburg lies the Wittstock Heath, which fell to Wittstock in 1802 after more than 400 years of border disputes. The Daberturm with its outbuildings was formerly part of the Landwehr and border station. Today, the experience exhibition "Wardens of the Heath" can be visited here. The geological formation of the area is explained using minerals and fossils from the region. A large number of exhibits invite you to touch different materials, to sniff the herbal pharmacy and to listen to the sounds and noises from the forest and heath. In the former guard room, the history of the heath is presented as an audio book - with legends and stories from the world of smugglers. Open from April to October.
