The 39-hectare heathland of the Pestrup burial ground contains 531 burial mounds from the late Bronze Age (900–200 BC). It is the largest burial ground in Northern Europe that is still visible. As with the megalithic tombs, the ducal government in Oldenburg also undertook conservation work here. In 1909, the burial ground became state property through government purchase and has since been protected as a natural and cultural monument. The Ocean Bridge in Harpstedt, Lower Saxony, leads to Little America. The 99-year-old connection originated as a guesthouse, and is now popular with hikers and cyclists. Of course, this doesn't mean the United States, and "ocean" doesn't mean the Atlantic. Rather, this historic structure is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge located in the Wildeshausen Geest region of Lower Saxony. The "Ocean Bridge" is the only way to cross the Delmetal River between the Harpstedt Forest and the Harpstedt district of Little America. Or, as the nature park's website puts it: "The wooden bridge connects the village of Little America with the rest of the world." The Harpstedter Burggraben and the Amtshof are two historically and culturally significant places in Harpstedt, Lower Saxony. The Amtshof, an imposing half-timbered building from the 18th century, once served as the seat of the administration and is now the town hall of the Harpstedt collective municipality. The three-winged building was built between 1741 and 1744 on the foundations of a former moat castle that was destroyed in a fire around 1740. The building was extensively restored in the 1980s and has been shining in new splendor ever since. The surrounding moat, also called the Graft, is a remnant of the old moat castle and almost completely surrounds the Amtshof. The moat is about 450 meters long and was desilted in 2021, which means its maximum depth is now about two meters. The moat is home to a variety of fish species, including bream, eel, pike and zander, and offers an idyllic setting for walks and relaxation. Particularly worth mentioning is the so-called wedding bridge, which leads over the moat. This bridge was closed due to mold and was reconstructed between 2021 and 2022. It is a popular place for wedding photos and symbolizes the romantic atmosphere of the place. The Amtshof and the moat are not only historical sites, but also popular excursion destinations in the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park. The extensive park invites you to take relaxing walks and offers an impressive backdrop with old trees and well-kept green spaces.

Early in the morning towards sunrise there is a great atmosphere on the Prestrupper burial ground. Then there is still light fog over the heath, when the sun has cleared it, the dew hangs in the numerous cobwebs. All crowned by the singing of the birds.

Mysterious and exciting: In the "Haus im Moor" you will learn interesting facts about the Goldenstedt high moor. With the help of EU funds, a bog tunnel was set up here, which gives you a look under the earth and tells the gruesome fate of a bog corpse. You can also walk an educational trail here, ride a moor train and then treat yourself to a delicious buckwheat pancake.
