The chapel of St. Margareta and the village were first mentioned in 1307 as a Luxembourg fief. In 1576 the church was a branch of Tondorf. The valuable furnishings of the old church are thanks to the Counts of Blankenheim. It has been an independent parish church since 1804. The old church was a hall church with three axes and a mighty west tower and a small choir closed on three sides. This old church was demolished in 1923 and replaced by the new building that stands today. Only the Romanesque tower, originally built as a defensive tower, remained.
