Gut Ostberge in Dortmund is a historic former knight's estate whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. In the 14th century, the estate was owned by the Sobbe zu Villigst family. Today, the estate is known as an equestrian center (run by the Gödde family) and offers modern facilities for horses and riders.

The Aplerbeck Forest Nature Reserve is a 111.4-hectare forest area in the southeast of Dortmund, in the Aplerbeck district of the same name. It was declared a protected area in September 2005 and serves as an important island habitat for numerous animal and plant species. It is crisscrossed by beautiful, natural forest trails.
