ここは、1990年に自然保護区に指定された、ウンデンハイムとハンハイムの自治体間にある54ヘクタールの地域です。そこには、自然に近い河川の流れを持つセルツ川の低地、広大なヨシ原、カヤツリグサの群落、湿地、そして深い湿った農地が含まれています。ここでは、カイツブリ、ヨシゴイ、チュウヒ、シギなどの40種以上の鳥類が再び営巣しています。鳥類保護区の一部として、希少な動物種の移動、拡散、遺伝子交流を可能にするために、ヨーロッパ全土でFFH生息地を結びつける保護区ネットワークであるNATURA 2000の管轄下にあります。
