1945年4月、SSは最後の死の行進の1つで、約33,000人の囚人をザクセンハウゼン強制収容所から北西に向けて移動させました。多くの人が疲労、飢餓、または銃殺によって亡くなりました。記念碑は、プリグニッツ地方を通るこの道のりの各地点を示しています。

28メートル高の丸いレンガ造りの塔は、野石の土台の上にあり、最も際立った保存状態の良い建物です。98段以上の階段を上ると展望台にたどり着きます。尖頭アーチ型の高い入り口と、背面にあるトイレの張り出し窓が特徴的です。
