The current town hall of Wittstock/Dosse was built in 1905/06 in the Historicist style, combining Neo-Gothic elements with historical components. The building's origins date back to 1274, although earlier structures were incorporated into the new building. Striking features include the courthouse arcade, the typical brick gable, and the tower with its Baroque cap. The interior features Art Nouveau elements, including paintings depicting the transfer of town charter. The town hall combines Gothic and Neo-Gothic styles and is a significant example of regional architecture.

The historic Wittstock/Dosse station has a rich history and was opened in 1885 with the construction of the Prignitz Railway Company line. This line initially connected Perleberg, Pritzwalk, and Wittstock before being later extended to the Mecklenburg state border near Buschhof and further to Neustrelitz. After 1990, the station's use changed significantly. In 1998, passenger service between Wittstock and Mirow was discontinued, and in 2004, this line was finally closed. Between 2003 and 2005, the station was modernized as part of the "Prignitz Express" project, during which obsolete tracks were removed and old signal boxes were demolished. The modernized station returned to operation in 2005. In 2015, the newer station building also became municipal property. The buildings were renovated and put to new use for the 2019 State Garden Show. The historic ensemble, consisting of the three station buildings, the station forecourt, the buildings of the former railway depot, and the adjacent city park with the historic city wall, is a listed building. Despite the modernization, the station remains a significant example of the successful combination of historic buildings with contemporary use.

The building was destroyed inside in a mysterious attack (March 20, 1954). After restoration from 1992 to 1997, the town hall was restored to its former beauty, and the painting in the plenary hall was also reconstructed. In the winter of 2010/2011, the ceiling painting in the mayor's office was made visible again and professionally restored.

The fire disaster of November 1, 1821 reduced the old Pritzwalk and the old town hall to rubble and ashes. The reconstruction of the public buildings took several years. Construction of the town hall did not begin until 1826. The smaller new town hall only partially used the foundations of the previous building. The result was a building of simple form in the style of late classicism. At first, this was only the 28-meter-long main building with a protruding central section. The side buildings and the inner courtyard of the town hall were not built until the middle of the century.

The current building dates from 1826. In 1995, during archaeological research into the town centre, the foundations of the oldest town hall were uncovered in Pritzwalk. The construction period is currently dated to the late 13th and 14th centuries. According to a description from 1744, the building was massive with three vaults one above the other, painted yellow and white. The second floor contained, among other things, the audience chamber, below which was the town hall cellar, and below this a large and small vaulted cellar.

An impressive building, both from the outside and the inside. It's worth taking this little detour to the church. Recommended.
