Lake Passad is one of the largest lakes in the Eastern Uplands of Schleswig-Holstein. It covers 2.7 km² and is up to 10.7 m deep. The lake is named after the neighboring town of Passade. Lake Passad is tributary to the neighboring, roughly equally sized Dobersdorf Lake and the eight times larger and comparatively deep Selenter Lake. This lake system drains via the Hagener Au into the Baltic Sea near Laboe on the Kiel Outer Fjord.

In 1874, the Counts of Schönborn acquired the farms through a sale and exchange. In 1926, Sapper, a Nuremberg academic, bought the estate. His family lived there until 1975.
