Lively bustle in old walls, a medieval townscape with idyllic half-timbered houses, narrow alleys and cobblestone pavement. Monschau is the cultural center of an entire region and one of the most popular holiday and excursion destinations in the Eifel.

Shortly before reaching the old town, there is a top vantage point on the corpse alley. Nicely located, with a wonderful view of the evangelical church and the Red House, among other things.

The Urttalsperre is the oldest dam in the Eifel and a popular destination. The dam wall was the largest structure in Europe at the time, has a length of 266 m and a height of 59 m. There is a nice excursion restaurant at the dam wall, which you can reach by boat, bus, car, bike or on foot. The Urftsee is also a very beautiful hiking area with a great path along the shore, which always offers a beautiful view of the Ordensburg Vogelsang.

From 1649 to 1650 this church was built by the Reichenstein Monastery and was then the first parish church in Monschau. The inside is unadorned and simply built with bluestone. In the 17th and 18th centuries it had its heyday and from then on it also houses some exhibits and relics of the city patron.

Wonderful view of the fen landscape that stretches out on both sides. Pure nature to enjoy. In addition to the Mützenicher Fens and the Walloon Fens near Botrange, one of the most beautiful fen landscapes I have seen so far. A treat for nature lovers.

The church building in the Wollseifen desert, which was previously consecrated to St. Rochus, is one of the few houses that still exist after the village was cleared after the Second World War. In the apse there is still a large wooden cross, so that the site is a nice place for a short spiritual retreat for many hikers (for example on the wilderness trail through the Eifel National Park).
