The Laufenburg was built in the 12th century by the Dukes of Limburg. Since the 17th century it has only existed as a ruin. In 1895 the battlements of the round corner towers were renewed. The current restaurant is closed on Mondays.

The Iterbach is a natural river that flows into the Inde from the left near Kornelimünster in the Aachen urban region.

The Iterbach rises in the Osthertogenwald, south of Raeren in Belgium. At border stone 927, near the town of Sief, he crosses the border into Germany. The Periolbach, Belvener Bach, the Brandenburg outflow, the Schniders outflow, the Reybach and the Orsbach flow to it. It is close to nature, but polluted by the nearby intensive agriculture and wastewater from Belgium. The valley of the same name is spanned in front of Kornelimünster by the Itertal viaduct of the Vennbahn. The stone bridge structure (viaduct) from 1885 is a listed building. After the railway was closed, the Vennbahn cycle path now runs over it.
