Finally, I was here during flowering season. These large purple expanses are amazing. You really have to see them.

Getting started at Niederhaverbeck was very good. Parking space (chargeable) directly on the street, which is actually only 1/3 full during the flowering period. From there via the prince's grave to Wilseder Berg and back again. It was a fantastic lap of almost 10km. Next to the Pietzmoor, we liked it here the best.

Between Wilseder Berg and Niederhaverbeck you cross this beautiful heathland! Early in the morning you have pure idyll here!

In the middle of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve lies the idyllic and car-free heath town of Wilsede, which visitors can only reach on foot, by bike or in a horse-drawn carriage. With its old thatched houses and sheepfolds as well as the heath museum "Dat ole Huus", the historic place resembles a living museum village. At 169.2 m, the Wilseder Berg directly near Wilsede is the highest elevation in the northwest German plain. The Totengrund, located approx. 1 km south of Wilsede, offers a wonderful view. A beautiful area for hiking. Beautiful in every season. Quite busy on weekends and public holidays, so it is better to start early. From the lookout tower at the prince's grave you have a great view over the heath and the Wilseder Berg.

It's a small gorge for the heathland 😀, but you don't have to be afraid.

The main route from Niederhaverbeck to Wilsede or Wilseder Berg is on the weekend very crowded. Cyclists and pedestrians meet on the e.g. T. very narrow paths constantly. If you still have your dog with you, the walk turns into work. Tip: Maybe go on a weekday. The landscape is uniquely beautiful. The red of the heather flowers, the expanse, everything is coming to validity. A special feast for the eyes was a flock of sheep with dogs and a shepherd.
