"Strenuous ascent" is right. Good shoes are a must, and trekking poles would be very helpful - I didn't bring any and I swiftly regretted it. The way up is tough on the muscles, the way down is brutal on the joints. I could hear my knees creaking by the time I reached the bottom. It's definitely worth it to see the Shrecksee at the top, but this is not the kind of climb I'd recommend taking on without some serious footwear and an even more serious pair of thighs.

It's a very beautiful scene, especially when the alpine roses are in bloom. I wouldn't bathe in there.

The path from Ornach to Spieser is an alpine trail that requires surefootedness but is very beautiful.
