The so-called "Swedish crosses" are memorial crosses in memory of people killed as victims of the troops who roamed the country and often marauded (plundered) during those warlike times (first half of the 17th century). In the strictest sense of the word definition, however, they are not "atonement crosses" because such crosses were to be erected by the perpetrators - as part of the atonement (penance) for their crime - whereas memorial crosses were erected by people from the victim's immediate environment (often family members, possibly friends or neighbors).

The "Sea of Water Lily" is simply wonderful. I just think that the highlight is in the wrong place here.

A wildly romantic valley. The stream flows in its original state. Several lakes are located along the hiking trail.

The Schaichtal in Schönbuch is particularly picturesque. Easily accessible as there are numerous well-maintained hiking/forest paths. The Schaich impresses with its numerous beautiful, romantic watercourses.
