Beautiful medieval center a real sight

This cemetery is located directly at the mouth of the Ems River and is the remains of the village of Oterdum, which was demolished in the 1960s and 1970s. The village had to make way for the widening of the embankment at the mouth of the Ems. On a website dedicated to the commemoration of the village, sketches of what it once looked like can be seen. One of the special dates for the flower market is Good Friday. While Good Friday in Germany marks the beginning of Easter in a more contemplative way, it is not officially a holiday in the Netherlands. All shops, cafés, bars, restaurants, and stores are open, and you can go shopping as usual. Somewhere on the Grote Markt, there is always a "bloemendepot" where you can leave your freshly purchased plants for free between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. This way, you don't have to lug them around all day and can shop or relax in peace.
