A very nice, quiet cycle path. However, it's very narrow, so you have to be careful when there's oncoming traffic.

A wonderful old restaurant. It was good even in the GDR days. First time back here in 40 years. The senior manager still greets you with a handshake... Like in the old days 👍🏻.

what a beautiful landscape

This gravel path is a nice alternative to the original Gera cycle path between Elxleben and Walschleben (which has many bumps). You drive nicely alongside the Gera dike, and at the end of the path there is a romantic pond.

It flows peacefully and it's fun to just look at the water.

Churches are always worth a highlight. They offer hikers or bikers a place to rest and invite them to take a break.

In 2022, the floodplain could be returned to the river. At medium high tide, the lowered bank areas flood and leave remains of the water in dredged depressions. This is how reeds and willows settle. Frogs and insects can spawn in the water sinks. On the other side of the river, buildings were dismantled to allow the floodplain to be flooded without damage in the event of a flood.
