11月 8, 2025, Genova Brignole Railway Station
The first Genova Brignole station opened in 1868 as the terminus of the railway line from Chiavari, coming from the south. In 1872, the line was extended through the Traversata Tunnel to Genova Piazza Principe station, which thus became a through station instead of a terminus. The current station building was constructed between 1902 and 1905 in anticipation of a planned World's Fair. This fair, however, was ultimately held in Liège, Belgium. The station's architecture combines romantic Neo-Renaissance motifs with Neoclassical elements and is certainly very impressive. And indeed, a World's Fair did take place in Genoa in 1992, which hopefully attracted many visitors by train. More information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhof_Genova_Brignole

8月 24, 2024, Villetta Di Negro Park and Waterfall
Villetta Di Negro, for many Genoese “Dinegro” just to save space, is a municipal park in the center of the city of Genoa, on a small hill overlooking Piazza Corvetto and Piazzale Mazzini, partially covered with the bastions, called “Luccoli”, the walls dating back to the 17th century. The villa was built at the beginning of the 19th century by the Marquis Gian Carlo Di Negro and the park was decorated both with tall trees and paths with flowerbeds leading to the main villa, from which the view extended to the sea, with the presence of numerous statues, in keeping with the classical style of the period. In the second half of the 19th century, after the death of the Marquis Di Negro, the complex was bought by the City of Genoa and the villa was used as the Botanical Garden of the University of Genoa. During the bombings of World War II, the villa was practically destroyed except for the terrace overlooking the buildings in Piazza Fontane Marose, and in the following years it was rebuilt in modern style to house the Edoardo Chiossone Museum of Oriental Art. In the period between the two world wars, the garden was enriched both with alien plants and with two artificial "caves", one large and one small. In addition, the waterfall was designed by creating overhangs and pools to make the flow of water more spectacular.

8月 24, 2024, Fountain at Piazza De Ferrari
The Piazza de Ferrari is a square in the centre of the Italian city of Genoa. With its monumental fountain, it represents the agora of Genoa. On the occasion of the Columbus celebrations in 1992, the square was extensively restored, but without deviating from the 1936 design for the fountain by the architect Giuseppe Crosa di Vergagni. Some of Genoa's most important streets branch off from the Piazza de Ferrari (for example, Via XX Settembre in the direction of Levante). The square itself is located on a slight hill and is separated from the Porto Antico marina by the historic old town (Centro Storico). Towards the Ponente (west) it opens into the upscale streets Via Roma and Via XXV Aprile. The Carlo Felice Opera House is also located on this side.

8月 24, 2024, Cathedral of San Lorenzo
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo (Cathedral of Saint Lawrence) is the cathedral church of the Archdiocese of Genoa and is located in the historic part of the city near the Porto Antico, the tourist port of Genoa. It was consecrated in 1118 by Pope Gelasius II. Construction of the medieval church began around 1100, but it was not completed until the end of the 15th century. Because of this construction history spanning several eras, the cathedral has features of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The first cathedral in Genoa was probably built in the 5th or 6th century and dedicated to the then Bishop San Siro. Excavations under the adjacent stone pavement and the square in front of the current front of the Chiesa di San Siro brought to light Roman wall ruins and road systems, as well as pre-Christian sarcophagi. Accordingly, there was most likely an ancient cemetery on the grounds of the cathedral at that time. The title of cathedral church was later given to the new Cathedral of Saint Lawrence. The construction of the Romanesque church building around 1100 was financed by the successful operations of the Genoese fleet in the Crusades. The "move" of the cathedral accelerated the urbanization of the city area, which became the center of Genoa with the construction of the city wall in 1155 and the merger of the old city centers of Castrum, Civitas and Burgus. The cathedral was blessed by Pope Gelasius II in 1118 and was given archbishop status in 1133. During battles between the Ghibellines and Guelphs in 1296, the building was badly damaged by fire. Between 1307 and 1312, the facade was completed and the colonnades, including the galleries, were restored. The Romanesque structure of the church had remained largely intact during the work. In the period between the 14th and 15th centuries, numerous altars and chapels were added. The small loggia on the north-east tower was added in 1455. The one opposite, in the Mannerist style, dates from 1522. In 1550, the architect Galeazzo Alessi was commissioned to reconstruct the cathedral, but only carried out the roofing of the main and side aisles, and the construction of the dome and apse. The construction of the cathedral was not completed until the 17th century. The dome and the medieval parts of the church were restored between 1894 and 1900.
