Excellent for strength training and yoga in the summer

I have tried several times to upload photos of the many excursions we have done but Komoot does not publish them while I believe that unlike the comments the most eloquent things are the photos and not the comments. However the trail is really beautiful and well maintained and was very much appreciated by the whole group. Highly recommended

The current church was built with a single nave in 1725 on the remains of the previous structure that collapsed for unknown reasons. In the third altar on the right side there is a statue of the Immaculate Conception, attributed to Anton Maria Maragliano, in the fourth altar on the left a Byzantine crucifix and a canvas depicting the Madonna delle Grazie. The work Ultima cena, preserved in the sacristy, is by the local painter Luca Cambiaso. In the façade, in Baroque style, two links of the Pisan port chain are visible on the right side; according to historical sources, these objects were stolen, as a sort of "war trophy", by Trancheo Stanco from Moneglia in 1284 during the battle of Meloria between the Genoese and Pisan fleets, which saw the former victorious.

The cloister adjacent to the Church of San Giorgio was built by the Franciscan friars in 1484 with the support of the then Doge of the Republic of Genoa Paolo Fregoso, as well as Archbishop of Genoa, who obtained the consent of Pope Sixtus IV. In the following centuries, first the Napoleonic decree and the subsequent one of the Kingdom of Italy in 1866, compromised the activity of the cloister so much that the friars definitively abandoned Moneglia. The Cloister consists of two porticoes, one internal and one external. Inside there is a well, in the north-east corner and, in the center west, a "risseu" with the coat of arms of Pope Pius XII (1939-1958), to testify to the moment in which the cloister passed under the ecclesiastical order. The vaults and lunettes depict stories related to the life of Saint Francis, typical of Franciscan convents, presumably dating back to the 17th century. On the south wall there is a marble aedicule, dated 1455, with two standing figures, one with a halo and the other with wings, while on the north wall there is a medallion depicting a lamb, representing Jesus inviting his disciples to follow him. In the north corner, under the portico, there is a 16th century grain measure, of uncertain provenance, with the coat of arms of Genoa. Today the facility has been converted into an exclusive Bed and Breakfast, a member of the Historic Hotels of Europe.

Its construction dates back to 1396 by the first provost Mechiorre Moltedo, of Moneglia who had received the assignment from the archbishop Giacomo Fieschi and it was consecrated to San Giorgio. In 1494 it was assigned to the Franciscan friars. Inside it preserves a wooden group of San Giorgio and the dragon by the Genoese sculptor Pietro Galleano; a canvas of San Giorgio slaying the dragon attributed to Peter Paul Rubens; a polyptych with San Lorenzo between Santa Chiara, San Paolo, San Francesco and San Leonardo with a Baptism of Christ in the cusp, attributed to Giovanni da Pisa; a polyptych with San Ludovico enthroned between the saints Anthony the Abbot, Ambrose, Stephen, Nicholas and other saints inserted in the cusp and in the predella, by Giovanni da Barbagelata; a Madonna with Saint Peter, holy bishop and souls in purgatory by Carlo Dolci; an Adoration of the Magi by Luca Cambiaso, a native of Moneglia.
