    The legend of Giant Bruns
A long time ago a church was built in Hanstedt and all people were baptized. Only the giant Bruns stood aside and did not want to be baptized. He lived with his wife and daughter on the Brunsberg near Nindorf.
The giant Bruns became so angry over the church that he tried to throw a big rock on Hanstedt and his new church. But the rock escaped him and rolled down the mountain where it broke and is still scattered in many fragments around the Brunsberg.
Bishop Ansgar came and spoke with the giant. He urged him to peacefulness and Christian action. The giant family was so impressed by the bishop that they were baptized and henceforth led a Christian life.

The giant Bruns, on the Hanstedter place is probably the most "photographed man" in Hanstedt.

According to legend, the giant lived on the Brunsberg. In the 1970s, homeless or archaeologists searched there for his grave. Instead of bones, they discovered gravel - which was worth a lot in the construction boom time of the time. "Now it was the Brunsberg by gravel mining at a rapid pace to the collar." After the demolition of the Hanstedter filled the huge crater with garbage. Nevertheless, the mountain was now ten meters smaller than before. "He has not reached his original height of 96.2 meters". "The once imposing Brunsberg was now history."
