The centerpiece of the Kunstpark am Hoetger-Ensemble ("Kaffee Worpswede" and "Grosse Kunstschau") is a fountain designed by the sculptor Prof. Waldemar Otto (Bacchusbrunnen), which donates the buildings of the painter, architect, sculptor and artisan Bernhard Hoetger (1874-1949, information under: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernhard_Hoetger) should receive.
At the fountain, officially inaugurated on October 2, 2010 in the presence of numerous donors (building block buyers), the bronze Bacchus figure holds a bowl in his hand, from which water flows directly into his open mouth. Before that lies the Bacchantin, also made of bronze. The two figures are part of a fountains extending over two levels, symbolically connecting the Gesamtkunstwerk:
Designed by Hoetger "Kaffee Worpswede" (also called "Coffee Crazy") and the slightly higher located museum ("Big Art Show"). The water as a playful element connects the two levels in the form of a waterfall. Bacchus is originally the Latin form of Bacchus, a nickname of Dionysus, the god of wine and intoxication in Greek mythology. Bacchus was used by the Romans as the name of Liber pater, the original Italian god of wine and fertility (source: Wikipedia).
