Dolovo - the abandoned village

Dolovo is a deserted place in the municipality of Dobrinj on the island of Krk and lies between the villages of Kras and Gostiniac. Although the place is no longer inhabited, it is still officially registered as a village community.
The village of Dolovo was first mentioned in 1780 and in 1880 had 128 inhabitants. In the decades after that, the inhabitants left the village and also the island to For example, in Germany or even in America to seek a better life, because in these areas was often hungry. At the 1974 census 4 more people were counted. Nowadays you can observe how nature recaptures its land and the ruins grow more and more into a dense forest.

Unfortunately, you can not go to the village by bike as the last part of the way is really not passable.
It's best to leave the bikes shortly before and walk the last piece over hill and dale about 500 m on foot over the ridge ... but a visit to this ghost village is worthwhile in any case and is worth the effort until then 🙂.
