At the southern edge of Saint-Vaast-la-Hogue is the Fort de la Hougue, built in 1694 by Benjamin de Combes, a pupil of Vauban. Even today, the building is a military base that is only open to the public for a few days of the year. The imposing outdoor area can however be expired. The famous tower (Tour Vauban) seems to be closed at the moment (as of July 2019), but has been a World Heritage Site for several years.
