Prades is a town in the Baix Camp region. The town is also known as the Red Town because of the reddish sandstone that characterizes most of its buildings. Its height above sea level (950 m) means that it enjoys an Atlantic climate that has turned it into a popular summer resort. Winter, however, is cold and snow is present almost every year. With a census of 650 inhabitants, in the summer it can see its population increase 6 or 7 times. The Villa was listed as a Property of Cultural Interest (B.I.C.) in 1993, due to its historical complex.Almost the entire area of Prades is affected by the PEIN (Plan d'Espais d'Interès Natural) and the Xarxa Natura 2000 of the Mountains of Prades and we also find part of the Partial Nature Reserve of Barranc del Titlar and Tossal de la BaltasanaTwo GR trails (Great Route) converge in the town, the GR 171 coming from Montblanc via the Mola d'Estat, and the GR 65-5 variant of the Camí de Sant Jaume, which comes from the Albiol via the Motllats, both they leave the town with the same route through Segalassos, to the west.In the vicinity of Prades there are numerous paths, trails and tracks that delight fans of hiking, mountain biking or family walks, the Camí Natural and Ruta del Roure Reboll are an example, perfectly signposted. The Ruta del Roure Reboll, well signposted, shows us a didactic walk on the reboll oak (Quercus Pyrenaica), unique specimens in all of Catalonia, it has an exceptional biogeographical value, which are more or less grouped around the Tossal de la Baltasana ( Partial Nature Reserve of Titlar and Tossal de la Baltasana). Close to the Camí Natural de Prades we find the tree cataloged as monumental Perelloner de Sisteré (Pyrus Spinosa), 12 meters high and 3.17 meters high.
