Look at the numerous inscriptions in ancient Georgian

      August 2, 2022

The monastery of Kobayr is an Armenian-Georgian complex from the 12th - 13th centuries. The main part of the monuments consists of three churches, bell tower vaults, refectory, chapels, khachkars (cross-stones) and the remains of some walls of the fortress. The largest church is a long, single-nave hall that is in a half-ruined state and can no longer be visited. In 1971 the murals of the main church were restored without restoring the vaulted roof over the apse. Partial repairs have been carried out since 2006, including the rebuilding of the bell tower. A scaffolding was set up in the apse, which carries a temporary corrugated iron roof. This at least partially covers the paintings that were previously completely exposed to the weather.
