The port of Prussia is a port built in 1924/1925 and put into operation in autumn 1925 on the Datteln-Hamm Canal (channel km 14,16 - 14,34) in Lünen-Süd (district Horstmar).Originally it served as a transshipment point for the coal mines of Prussia in Lünen and the coal mine Gneisenau in Dortmund-Derne. In 1925 its high-time began as a coal hub, in the mid-1960s, the port was expanded to its present size. From the late 1980s, he lost by the pit closures in importance. On the former coal mine today there is the cycle and hiking trail "Gneisenau-Trasse", which leads to the Prussian Halde, on the other side of the railway line, to Derne. [1]Today, it is intensively used by tourists for its proximity to the Seepark Lünen and Horstmarer See, for motor and leisure boats and as a waterway resting place as well as a feeder for the passenger ship "Santa Monika" and as a museum.
