The Hambach Castle (formerly Kästenburg, also known as Maxburg) near the Hambach district of the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße was built as a castle in the Middle Ages and was designed as a castle in modern times. Because of the 1832 there aligned Hambach Festival, it is next to the Frankfurt Paulskirche as the most important symbol of the German democracy movement.
