The Zapolitskaya hydroelectric power station was built 30 kilometers from Suzdal on the Nerl River in 1953. For several years, the hydroelectric power station supplied electricity to the Suzdal and Vladimir districts, but it was closed in the early 1960s. The brick walls, arched foundation, and wooden piles from the dam have been preserved.
In 2021, they decided to rethink the building and give it a new life. The reconstruction of the building was carried out by a team of architects from Denmark and Russia - Mette Lange, Ksenia Rakovskaya, and Idris Suliman.
After the reconstruction, the historical space of the hydroelectric power station turned into a summer venue for creative experiments and cultural events. Concerts, performances, dinners, film screenings, and art parties are held there.
In the summer season, you can come to the hydroelectric power station not only for a cultural event. There is a small cafe with tea, coffee and soft drinks, you can play badminton, rent a bike, swim in the Nerl and sunbathe on the pier.
